Margaret Boyce-Cooley 
Director

Margaret brings a passion for education and leadership training to Practice Leadership. A Masters degree in Education and Training combined with thirteen years in the training and business management fields provides the foundation for her work as the Director of Practice Leadership. We find successful dental practices borrowing principles from the business world and Margaret’s previous experience as Vice President of Operations and Sales for a training organization makes her qualified to translate this information and apply it to the Business of Dentistry.

Margaret's enthusiasm for helping others to realize their potential and her love of team building led her to join Practice Leadership. Overseeing the day to day operations of Practice Leadership, she ensures that every client receives outstanding service.


June E. Taylor, RDH, EFDA
Practice Consultant & Facilitator

Taylor's 35 year career in dentistry has afforded her the opportunity to work with and learn from excellent leaders in dentistry, among them Dr. Bob Rondeau and Dr. Bill Blatchford. Taylor joined the Practice Leadership team ten years ago with a vision to empower people to be the best they can be. Her diverse dental experience as a Dental Assistant, Hygienist and Front Office Coordinator makes her uniquely qualified to coach both front office and clinical team members. Taylor focuses on the professional development of the people she coaches by focusing on leadership, effective communication, interpersonal dynamics and solution-finding. She partners with offices to execute and implement strategies and systems that help them take their practices to the next level of productivity.

In addition to her in-office coaching, Taylor regularly facilitates workshops on behalf of Practice Leadership on the subjects of leadership, case presentation, communication strategies and team building.


Karen Burnett, RDH
Practice Consultant

Karen Burnett has had a long-time enthusiasm for dentistry with over 22 years experience, including more than 12 years as a dental hygienist.  Prior, Karen assisted chairside for 13 years.Clinical dental experience, as well as graduate and undergraduate degrees in Psychology, provides the foundation for her comprehensive, hands-on perspective.It is this perspective that provides clients with energy for synergy.

Karen provides results-oriented business solutions within Practice Leadership’s customized coaching programs. Through creative presentation of specific tools and skills, she participates in the growth and development of each team. With client-centered professionalism, she imparts her passion for dental technology to the dental team through training effective use of technology in the case presentation process. She maintains her dental hygiene license practicing part-time on a weekly basis in the Portland area.


Lin Tucker
Practice Consultant

Lin has enjoyed working in various aspects of the dental industry for over 41 years. Her dental career began with 7 years of dental assisting after high school, and continued with 15 years as co-owner of a dental equipment manufacturing company. For the past 11 years, she has mastered and managed all aspects of the front office role. This diversity of experience as an employee and employer helps Lin relate to both Doctors and their team in her current role with Practice Leadership. As a Practice Consultant focused on Business Systems and Administration, she coaches team members in such areas as productive scheduling, patient-centered service, verbal scripting, effective communication, and helps hold the Doctors and teams accountable to these new skills. Additionally, in analyzing practice performance gauges for our clients, she provides recommendations designed to produce bottom-line results. Lin is committed to client success by furthering her knowledge through continuing education and facilitating effective working relationships between Doctors and their teams and ultimately, the patients.


Kathy Edwards, RDH
In-Office Consultant

Kathy’s 14 years in dentistry, preceded by a 10-year accounting career allows her to bring passion to both patient centered care and sound business strategies in the dental offices she serves. Working part time as an In-Office Consultant for Practice Leadership affords her the opportunity to practice clinical hygiene in a periodontally focused practice in Renton, Washington, continue to direct the SouthShore Dental Hygiene Study Club for hygienists which she founded 5 years ago and guest lecture at Lake Washington Technical College’s hygiene program in Bio-Statistics. The rarely combined focus of building strong leaders and implementing sound business strategies without losing the primary focus of an excellent patient experience attracted Kathy to Practice Leadership. Kathy provides insight and coaching to Doctors and team members to encourage professional growth and increased practice success.


David Brillenz, MA
Practice Consultant

Dave has over 16 years of leadership and practical management experience.  He has a diverse background which includes leadership in small and large organizations, management in areas of operations, consultative sales, sales management and training.  This experience brings a unique perspective to the business of dentistry.  Graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree, he also has a Masters degree in Total Quality Management.  He is a certified instructor, trainer and facilitator who focuses on leadership and the "Win-Win" in practices.  Dave is married, has two children and loves the outdoors.

Dave was drawn to the Practice Leadership Team because of its principle-centered focus.  He has a passion for encouraging and helping people reach their potential, whether it be in their professional or personal lives.  He was excited to bring that focus to dental practices, assisting doctors and their teams in achieving their goals.


Shannon McPherson-Melton
Team Assistant

Shannon earned her Bachelors degree in Business and English from Cascade College in Portland, Oregon. She has 10 years of business experience in customer relations and administration. Shannon provides support to the Practice Leadership team and our clients by coordinating logistics for in-office consultations and workshops as well as partnering in day to day operations in the areas of marketing and accounting. Shannon’s passion for outstanding customer service helps ensure that each team member calling into Practice Leadership is treated with care and a sense of urgency.

Shannon was drawn to Practice Leadership because of the leadership and team building aspects. These focuses have been a piece of her life’s foundation as she has been a part of many service clubs, sports teams, small businesses, and organizations through school. She has an entrepreneurial mindset and is always looking for ways to improve systems, communication and strategies in companies and in individuals. Her ability to create efficiencies internally helps maximize Practice Leadership’s opportunity to serve our clients.
